RVing on a Budget

RVing and the lifestyle that comes along with it is one of the most affordable and practical ways to travel and experience life on the road. But let us not set aside the fact that the recent economic turn down has taken its toll on everyone on the country. However, this does not mean that you have to sell your RV and forget about the laid back life that RVing offers. Below are different ways that can help you save money without compromising your RV lifestyle.

1. One of the best ways to save money while using your RV is by doing things that can help you get more out of your fuel tank. If you want to get better mileage, you have to remember three important points: First, you need to slow your driving down. Remember that the faster that you drive, the lower your fuel economy will turn out to be. Another thing that you have to consider is that correct inflation of your tire plays an essential role in your mileage. Last point to be considered is that weight matters. As much as possible, lighten your load to increase fuel efficiency of your RV.

2. Shopping ahead may sound like a good idea in saving time for your trip. But if you really come to think of it, stopping and shopping will do wonders not only that it will lighten your RV’s weight thus improving your car’s mileage. It can also help you save money and you get to skip on shopping at big food chains for products which you can easily get at local shops and discount stores that you will surely see along the way.

3. When out on the road with your RV, skip eating at restaurants. The reason why you have your cooking stuff and utensils in your RV is not for display but for eating in. You get to save a lot of money if you simply buy affordable ingredients and cook things on your own.

4. Use plastic and reusable stuff in your RV. Paper plates and cups maybe light and easy to use but the thing about them is that after 1 use, they have to be thrown out. Using plastic utensils in your RV can help you save more as you can use them on each of your trips.

5. A lot of RV enthusiasts opt for dry-camping as one of the major cost-saving means. It does not matter whether it’s a parking lot or a public land, you can get by there for the night. It may not offer the convenience of a campground. There maybe on hook ups or water but things like that can not be that much of an issue if you plan ahead or think creatively. You can stay at a campground for a day or two to do laundry or fill up water but you can go back to “boondocking” right after.

There are other means and way that can help one enjoy RVing without burning a huge hole on their pockets. Joining RV membership clubs like The Good Sam Club is a good idea as it offers a lot of advantages to their members.
