Utah Sportsman’s Vacation and RV Show

Utah Sportsman's Vacation and RV Show

The annual Utah Sportsman’s Vacation and RV Show opened last week, running for four days beginning on Thursday, February 14th. It is billed as the largest show in the Intermountain West. The event is held at the South Towne Expo Center. The show uses virtually all of the exhibition hall’s 350,000 square feet offering visitors the opportunity to see motor homes, toy haulers, fifth wheels, travel trailers and pop ups in a broad range of price points.

The show seems to be drawing in a younger demographic. The show saw many young families looking to share their love of camping with their children. Many young couples are looking for a reasonable price point trailer. For the first time in a decade, the show includes a good variety of small, low cost trailers coming in under $10,000. This demonstrates the industry’s willingness to evolve and meet changing demands. The show also includes higher end trailers with price points up to the $300,000 range.

In addition to all of the camping necessities, the show also promotes campgrounds and travel destinations. The president of the Colorado Campground and Lodging Association who is also the owner of a campground in Grand Junction was in attendance. She was working to promote trips to western Colorado, just a day’s drive away from the show’s location.

RV dealers find the show to be hugely important. On a normal weekend in February, for example, Camping World might expect to sell four or five rigs. At the show, the company hopes to sell 120.
