Undercover Boss Appearance Gives Boost to KOA

Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) CEO Jim Roger’s recent appearance on “Undercover Boss” brought a lot of positive attention to the KOA brand. Roger appeared on the CBS show on January 11th.

Roger viewed the appearance as a once in a lifetime opportunity to receive honest feedback from all levels of the company including employees and franchise partners. The show was seen by over 9 million viewers which offered a unique promotional opportunity for the company as well, allowing viewers to learn about different aspects of their brand including destination attractions and Care Camps.

The show appears to have given KOA a spike in terms of reservations and website interest. Across the various KOA facilities, reservations were up 17% for the weekend of January 11th through the 13th in comparison with the same weekend the previous year. The company also saw a 128% increase in visits to their website in comparison to the same time frame of the previous year with Roger stating: “The web traffic on Jan. 11 nearly matched the traffic we would normally see during the weekend before the fourth of July weekend.”
