The Bluegrass Heritage Museum

The Bluegrass Heritage Museum

Visitors to Kentucky might find it interesting to stop in at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum if possible. It is located in Winchester and is housed in the Guerrant Clinic building. The museum has been at this location since the year 2000.

The Bluegrass Heritage Museum takes a look at the people and the history of the Bluegrass Region. The museum hopes to allow people to both learn about the people of the region and see how the people of this region have influenced not only the state of Kentucky, but all of the United States.

On the first floor of the museum, you’ll find changing exhibits and a few smaller stationary exhibits. The stationary exhibits include artifacts from the local fire department, schools and local grocery. The second floor offers a military exhibit which includes photos, artifacts and clothing from the Revolutionary War, World War I and World War II. There is a room called the Bell South Room which is dedicated to the influence that telephone communication has had on society. On the top floor you’ll find some of the original medical equipment used at the Guerrant Clinic in what was originally an operating room in the clinic.

Visitors will walk away having a better understanding of the lives and history of the people in the Bluegrass Region.
