RV Park for Singles

RV parks use different marketing techniques to draw in both new and repeat customers. One park with a very unique angle is Florilow Oaks RV Park in Bushnell, Florida. It is one of the only parks in the United States that is for single RVers who are 55 and over.

The park was originally started by five women who were single or widowed. The park has been in existence now for almost 30 years. While the focus is on singles, there is no attempt to change that status for its visitors. An active social calendar is encouraged, as is interaction with other singles, but the emphasis is not on forming new relationships. Most visitors to the campground are widows and widowers. The park has an activities director who makes sure that there are a variety of activities and day trips planned throughout the winter season. The park’s guests also schedule their own activities and alert other guests who might be interested via the park’s bulletin board.

The park is also a community. If a guest signs up for an activity but doesn’t show up, another guest is sure to check on them to make sure all is well. Sites are available on a nightly basis, but there are also long term residents or leaseholders. There are 145 sites in the park with 100 designated for leaseholders and the other 45 available for short term reservations.

While the park’s bylaws indicate that the park is for singles only, the park manager does confide that no one has ever been evicted for falling in love and getting married.
