Optimal Mileage on a Used RV

Those looking to purchase a used RV may hope for some mileage guidelines before they purchase. How many miles are too many on a used rig? Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to this question.

Many factors impact the viability of a used vehicle. One factor is the type of engine. A diesel engine may be perfectly fine for many years, even after it has as many as 90,000 miles on it. For a gasoline engine, 90,000 miles might indicate that the rig is nearing the end of its best years. It is important to consider the level of maintenance required for the rig once it is purchased. A rig near the end of its lifespan may end up nickel and diming a new owner right out of enjoying the purchase.

Before purchasing any used vehicle, consider having it inspected by a trusted mechanic. In the case of an RV, be sure that your chosen mechanic is well versed in the engines of RVs. The right used rig can be a wise investment.
