Lake of the Falls County Park

Thinking of exploring the northeastern part of Wisconsin? Consider making one of your destinations the Lake of the Falls County Park. It is located 45 minutes northeast of Park Falls and about five hours north of Minneapolis. The area is well worth exploring as it has much to offer.

Campers find the area lends itself to both quiet and active days. Choose to spend time swimming in the waterfall-fed lake, watching for wildlife, braving the nearby whitewater in a kayak or simply enjoying the beauty of this heavily wooded area. With so many options, there is something to suit everyone. The campground is first come, first served with both tent sites and hookup sites. Even the campsite terrain seems to be made to suit those of varying tastes. Some campers might prefer a site that is hidden among the trees, while others may opt for a more open, grassy area to call home.

Consider using Lake of the Falls County Park as your home base for a longer stay. From the park it is less than an hour up to Lake Superior. The area is filled with gorgeous lakes and rivers offering everything from peaceful water for a floating day trip to rapids sure to test your whitewater skills.

The Gateway Lodge restaurant and bar is a nice diversion on a night when you don’t feel like cooking. Just a very short drive away, hit it on a Friday night for their traditional fish fry, or any night that you think it might be nice to be waited on while you’re sipping an ice cold drink.

This serene park is the perfect getaway, where the loudest noise you might hear is the splashing of a waterfall or the cry of a hawk sailing overhead.
