Halloween Celebrations – A Popular Campground Trend

Campgrounds and RV parks offer a variety of activities and programs to attract new visitors throughout the year. They also aim to retain their loyal customers. One trend that has spread in the last two decades is the offering of Halloween themed activities.

Parks like Jellystone Park Camp Resort in Estes Park Colorado and many others across the nation plan events like costume contests, campsite decorating contests, carnivals, hayrides and more. The trend seems to be working as what was once a traditionally slow time of year is turning into a busy time for many campgrounds. Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus Indiana finds that they are taking reservations more than a year in advance for their Halloween festivities. Park owners have let their imaginations fly as they organize jack-o-lantern contests, haunted trail hikes and full blown haunted houses. Many parks try to offer an array of events with some being very scary and some geared to the less adventurous. A common thread throughout many of the parks is, of course, the opportunity for kids to trick-or-treat. Call any campground you’re considering to see what types of events they’re offering.

While the fall may not be the traditional time for many families to plan a camping trip, this trend in fall and Halloween themed events seems to be doing the ‘trick’ by pulling in guests of all ages. Many families are returning year after year, a fact that has campground owners looking to continue the trend.
